No Strain, No Gain
I used to shy away from hard things. Here’s a little secret. When I finished graduate school in 2011, I tried to become a writer. But I gave up after a few months. It was too hard.
I wasn’t feeling like spending hours and hours reading, researching, thinking, journaling, and making errors. But second time around, in 2015, I adopted a different mindset. I realized that everything in life is supposed to be hard.
That’s probably the most valuable lesson I’ve learned. Don’t shy away from hard things. Instead, train yourself to become a person that can endure difficulties. Physically and mentally.
The cliché is 100% true: No strain, no gain. If you don’t strain your muscles, they get weak. If you don’t strain your brain, your cognitive ability will decline. If you don’t test your character, you become spineless.
I know that’s is not original anymore to say this during the corona pandemic, but see this time as training. It’s hard on all of us. And that’s exactly how its supposed to be.
