A growing number of people are now considering distance education, which allows them to complete a degree at home. Although distance learning greatly differ from traditional education in some aspects, learners will possible find that they can gain as much knowledge from online courses as they do at university.(不用the，eg，at school)
Admittedly, distance education may not offer students the network experience with classmates , which they can get in a brick college. Students complete their degree independently and do not have opportunities to meet each other and socialise together. They do not have access to build up their network of contacts, having a adverse(negative) effect on their career development. In contrast, those who study at a university can do a variety of (a wide range of ) activities in campus, such as playing sports, which can help them build close relationships.
However, distance education is flexible and offers learners opportunities to attend lectures without having to travel to a university. Students can read relevant materials and attend lectures by watching videos. When they have problems in digesting information, they can click the pause button and replay the video until they fully understand the content. With the saved time of traveling to and from the university, they can absorb more information and acquire knowledge about the subjects.
In addition, the improvement/ extension in online education enable students to ask questions in virtual classes and communicate to lecturers via emails. In this way, students can get teachers' guidance immediately, thereby completing the assignments and finishing all the courses more effectively. This is exactly the same as the interaction with professors in lecture room in the real life/ world. Despite living in their own countries, they can communicate with scholars from top university over the world.
To sum up, although online learners may lack networking experience, distance education is as good as traditional ways of completing a degree at university. Interactive technology have made it possible for learners to communicate with lecturers easily, and they can benefit from wide range of knowledge provided by online courses.
