I have always wanted to read The Narnia Chronicles since it is classics. I bought the books (in Chinese) in high school and tried to read out to my baby brother, but I haven't read the whole series until this year.
In March, I came across the app Shanby Books (not sure about the translation) in Google Play. It claimed to urge you to finish reading your first original English book. I was intrigued and downloaded it. (Though it was not my first time to read English books. I read English novels before and I used some English textbooks in my study.)
There were quite some resources in it. I picked up the first book of The Narnia Chronicles, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Because one single book of the series is relatively cheap (cheaper than most other books in it) and the series are easy to read (high school to CET-4 level).
I do not think I cannot read fairy tales just because I am no longer a child or teenager. I also took part in the reading plan/mission, so I could get some extra bonus when I read for seven or thirty days in a row.
The story was indeed refreshing. Most of the plots are fantasies, which reflects the author's extraordinary imagination. One criticism of the series, and I also have the feeling, is that the religious implications are being excessively emphasized. Though I was Christian earlier (I am not any longer), I did not feel very comfortable.
From March to July, at the daily pace of 2~5 chapters (divided by Shanby), I finished the seven books in Shanby. I read the later books faster than the first ones. It then showed a total of more than 300,000 words.

Anyway, I believe this series would be a good and suitable choice for anyone who has at least a basic of middle school English and wants to develop a habit of English reading of original works.
