Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. Say you're running and you think, "Man, this hurts, I can't take it anymore." The "hurt" part is an unavoidable reality, but whether or not you can stand anymore is up to the runner himself.

——What I Talk About When I Talk About Running, Novelist, Haruki Murakami

The inevitable happened. I forgot my keys.

    option n. 选择

I had no option but to ask him to leave.

You'd better keep your options open.

    optional adj.

Certain courses are compulsory, others are optional.

    say v.

Say you lose your job: what would you do then?

    stand v. 忍受

I can't stand people interrupting all the time.

    be up to somebody 由……决定

Shall we eat out or stay in? It's up to you.
