    WORDS

    the first one 第一个,第一位

Rowley was the first one down the hill, and I was the thrower.

例句:I love all her books, but this was the first one I read and I have to say, it is by far my favorite.

I have to say 不得不说;it is by far my favorite 迄今为止我最喜欢的。

造句:She is the first one my real friend in that school.

Rowley kept asking to switch places and have me be the one who rides the Big Wheel,...and it didn't have any brakes.

switch on, switch off。

So, are we going to switch places now? = Do you want to have a turn now?

造句:You and that boy should switch places.

I thought I could just crank out my thank-you cards in a half hour,...my mind went blank.

The writer must have cranked it out in his lunch-hour.

造句:I have to crank out my homework and go out play basketball.

cheer sb. up使某人开心;crack sb. up 吹捧某人,文中指给Rowley带来乐子

I tried to cheer him up, but all the jokes that usually crack him up weren't working.

例句:She told stories that cracked me up and I swore to write them down so you could enjoy them too.

造句:We all just cracked up laughing.

claim to fame 成名的原因 the thing that makes a person or place famous or interesting

Ricky's big claim to fame is that he'll pick the gum off the bottom of a desk and chew it if you pay him fifty cents.

例句:His only claim to fame is that he once met Stalin .

造句:His main claim to fame was that he studies at Harvard Business School, but he did not graduate.

    SENTENCES

I finally knocked Rowley off the Big Wheel today, but it didn't happen the way I expected.

    句式:it didn't happen the way I expected 跟我预想的不一样。

Finally he just told me not make it again, well, it didn't happen the way I expected.

What really ticked me off that is that Rowley is right-handed, and it's his LEFT hand that's broken.

句式:What really ticked me off that 真正使我生气的是...

What really ticked me off that he not only lied to me, but also took all of my money.

    JOURNAL

Today's reading let me thought some of my childhood things, that memory cracked me up and I want to tell you some jokes like that.

Usually Mom were chew me out and said, if I make big troble, she had to bring eggs to apologize to child's parents. This is lose her face.  But my Dad’s reaction is totally different. He told me, when I make big troble, It's just bring some eggs to apologize to that child's parents, but! you can't be hurt, It means someone hit me, I must to hit them double.

Well, I never knew what to do in fact, and now I also don't know how to tell my child to face this situation. I just knew it clearly, my Mom and Dad love me so much, always.
