A grand river with waves surging wide

The wind blows the fragrance of rice flowers on both sides

听惯了艄公的号子
Used to hearing the chants of helmsmen
看惯了船上的白帆
Used to seeing the white sails on ships
这是美丽的祖国
This is our beautiful motherland
是我生长的地方
It’s where I grew up and live
在这片辽阔的土地上
In this vast expanse of land
到处都有明媚的风光
There’s bright and enchanting scenery everywhere

Girls are like flowers
小伙儿心胸多宽广
Boys are broad-minded
为了开辟新天地
In order to open up a new world
唤醒了沉睡的高山
They’ve awakened the sleeping mountains
让那河流改变了模样

This is our heroic motherland
