    Question:

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
It is better to finish a project completely and then begin another project than to work on two or more projects at the same time.
Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
    From TPO 36

Finish one completely and then begin another project
project - affair, issue, question, problem
complete a task at one time = finish a task at one time= fulfill a task at one time v一次完成一项工作
only apply oneself to one task v仅仅专注于一项工作
proceed to undertake the next task v继续做下一个工作

    Point B

Working on two or more projects at the same time
    at the same time
同时的替换词 simultaneously, contemporary, at the same time, in the meantime, meanwhile
Switching mode of thinking

    under some special circumstances
at times = sometimes adv 有时候
…… can greatly enhance the efficiency of working ……

Nowadays people are becoming busy for their living especially those living in metropolis like Shanghai in China. Most people have a hard and full work time and even like professors are busying at finishing more papers to get their title. When it comes to dealing with so many things in people's life, there are two different ways. The first one is to complete a task at one time and another is to work on two or more things at the same time. For me, I am in favour of the first one and I will give following two reasons.
First of all, working on one thing at a time provides more opportunities for people to finish their work with high qualities. To finish a thing completely faultlessly, people have to take every tiny detail and each looming problem into consideration. So finishing such a hugh project is extremely difficult. When every tiny problem have been solved, the whole one have finished; each tiny problem has been perfectly finished, the whole one does, too. Just like building an architecture, each step of this is important. If anyone makes any mistake or there is any hidden danger, the whole building will be not safe and even cause people's death.
Second, dealing with one thing at a time help people have a good mind in their life to live in a high standard life. People mostly have lots of things to deal with at the same time, especially before deadline, but they always feel anxious, nervous and even impatient about their unfinished things, so unfortunately people like this are hard to make all things well-done. But if people calmed down, then dealed with each thing one by one. When they focused on only one task, they would find it easy to finish with a pleasure and clear mind, and then with less anxiety to proceed the next one. With being always in a pleasure mind while working, people will live in a better live.
Above all, focusing on only one thing enables people to complete task with high efficent and quality, Besides, a good mind while dealing with any problems or tasks makes people live in high standard.

While we were taught from a young age that efficiency means multi-tasking,certain projects should be completed one at a time. Such practice ensures the quality of the final product and prevents from one having to redo certain parts of a long process. It also ensures the safety of those who will ultimately be the users of the final product.
A person has a limited attention span, and a sole stress of efficiencyoften results in a compromise of quality. In projects that are highly detailedand require a lot of careful attention, a person must devote his full attention to the task in order to not make any careless mistakes. Take, for example, a biology project involving the genetic engineering of a human cell line. A lot of initial planning is involved in selecting the right cells suitable for growingin a laboratory and capable of modification. The cells must then be carefully monitored in a controlled environment to keep them alive. The genes to bealtered are analyzed before there are delivered in a viral vector to the desiredcells. All of steps toward achieving the final product are laboriously planned out and executed. Any small mishaps along the way can easily force the scientist to start the process all over again and waste months of previous work.
Some projects are assigned with specific instructions for those involved tonot take on any other projects. Such projects often involve products that willaffect the safety of a large number of individuals. In the field of architectural design, a public structure to be used by thousands, even millions,of people every day will require that the initial project be carried out withcare. The Tacoma Narrows Bridge was a public infrastructure completed in 1950along the Puget Sound that was considered a monumental feat of engineering inits day. The twin suspension bridge, spanning 5,400 feet, took years of planning and construction by teams of architects, engineers, and construction workers. However, because the Department of Pacific Northwest Transportation was taking on several projects at the time and couldn’t simply focus on the bridge, the group of engineers failed to take the aerodynamics of the bridge into consideration during the design process. The gusts of wind along the Tacoma Narrows brought the structure to a collapse within months of the bridge’sopening, resulting in a catastrophe that is still remembered to this day as aclassic example of failure of engineering.
As the two examples show, the projects of certain highly skilledprofessions require careful attention to detail and must be completed one at atime. Trying to couple several projects simultaneously will only result in onehaving to redo a lot of work due to careless errors or worse, a devastating lossof lives.
