captured my attention
capture: v. to make sb interested in sth
i.e: The mother use a doll to capture the baby's attention
but that was exactly the sort of question that most intrigued me
intrigue: v. to make sb very interested and want to know more about sth
• intrigue sb; it intrigues sb that....
i.e: The headline intrigued me to read more
• intrigue 还有秘密策划,密谋的意思,如“ intrigue with sb against sb" -
rapid-fire: adj. (of question, comments) spoken very quickly, one after the other
i.e: He kept the audience laughing by rapid-fire jokes. -
And he nailed that one as well
nail: v. (informal)if you nail sth, you succeed in getting it, after a lot of time or effort
i.e: She nailed her exam.
vantage point: n. a position from which you watch sth; a point in time or a situation from which you consider sth, especially the past
i.e: The building was a good vantage point for watching the history go by.
But while the abilities are extraordinary, there is no mystery at all about how these people developed them. They practiced.
purposeful practice is more effective than the usual just-enough method
