1. versus
①used for stating that two things are being compared in order to show that they are different or that one is better than the other

②used for showing that two people, groups, or teams are competing against each other in a sports event or a court case
e.g. We are waiting for a court decision on Smith versus Watts.
2. scarce= if something is scarce, there is not very much of it
e.g. Fresh water and medicines were scarce in the disaster area.
3. eminently= particularly
e.g. He is one of the eminent clerks.
