然而，亚马逊热带雨林并没有因其丰富的自然资源得到人类的厚爱，人类毫无节制的开采开发已经对当地的自然环境带来了巨大的破坏。据巴西国家地理统计局的数据显示，过去 30 年间，该雨林六分之一的面积遭到了严重破坏，而巴西的森林面积同 400 年前相比，整整减少了一半。专家还表示，热带雨林的减少不仅意味着自然资源的减少，还反映出了全球范围内严重的环境恶化问题。
