If you really want to achieve your goals, I’m sorry but you’ll need to make life boring. The best luck I’ve ever had is small steps forward every single day. I didn’t work myself to death, far from it. I chiseled out a little bit of time for each goal, and I followed the exact same routines every day. Exciting? Not really. But devastatingly effective, and that’s more important.
Consistency and progress are easy you do the same things every single day. Positive habits aren’t a decision, they’re a lifestyle. You will move towards your goals way faster and achieve them with much greater success if you make your life boring. And it only takes 15–30 minutes per day. The recipe I started with was:
- 10 minutes of body weight exercises
- 10 minutes reading
- 5 minutes meditating
- 5 minutes journaling
Do you spend more than 30 minutes a day on TikTok, or WeChat? Then you have time to try this. And if you haven’t stuck with a new habit for 3 months straight before, then you really owe it to yourself to try this. You’ve never seen what you’re capable of, and it’s more than you realize.
You don’t have to do a lot. The point is that you never stop moving forward. Keeping these promises to yourself will also upgrade your confidence and self-image. Over time you’ll see yourself as someone who always shows up and gets it done. Customize the routines as needed. Evolve them with your goals and find what works best for you.
The point is that the routine be small enough that you can do it every day and you don’t stop. Ever. Have miniature versions of your routine for hectic days so you can still keep that promise no matter what. This kind of work really adds up, and if you stick with it you will completely change who you see in the mirror. You’ll see someone who relentlessly moves towards goals, keeps promises to themselves, and gets results.
Make your life more boring. We are what we do every day, and you have more control over that than you realise.
