If you're doing an English course, take it seriously.

If you're not sure of the meaning of a word, look it up rather than guess.

Do written work in rough first, then it doesn't matter if you cross something out.

It's no good writing things in a notebook if you don't go back and study them again.

Practicing with classmates will help you to build up your confidence.

What you learn in class is just the tip of the iceberg. You need to study at home as well.

It’s only a joke – don’t take it seriously!

Look the word up in your dictionary.

in rough

if you write or draw something in rough, you do it without paying attention to details or tidiness, because you are going to do it again later.

I've already written the essay in rough, but I need to write it out again this evening.
