过去进行时学习笔记

一、讲故事或小说时做为背景进行描述，做为铺垫，给人以身临其境感觉
It was getting darker. The rain was beating on the windows. The wind was rising. A wood fire was burning on the hearth, and a cat was sleeping in front of it. A girl was playing the piano and was singing softly to herself. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door...

二、日常生活描述中用法：
1、长动作用过去进行时，短动作用一般过去时。
2、两个动作用when或者while连接
3、两个动作的长短是相对比较后决定的，较长的用过去时行，较短的用一般过去时。
4、when和while的区别是：when后可以用一般过去时也可用过去进行时，while只能用过去进行时。
when从句是主句的动作可以同时进行也可一前一后，while两个动作必须同时进行。
5、如果是两个都是长动作时，就用两个过去时行时(比较少见)。同理，两个都是短动作就两个都用一般过去时。

三、典型用法：表示过去正在进行的动作。
where were you last night?
i was having dinner with my friends.
四、口语用法中表示委婉的请求或提意见，如wonder,hope,think等，这时并不表示过去时间的动作，用过去进行时显得犹豫不决，因而显得很礼貌。
