过去进行时

一、定义

表示过去某个时刻或某一阶段正在进行的动作或发生的状态。

二、结构

was/were+V.ing

(否定形式在was/were后加not，疑问句将was/were提前)

三、常用时间状语

at that time/moment,then,this morning,the whole day,yesterday；while,when,as引导的过去时间状语等

四、用法

1.表示过去某个时刻或某一阶段正在进行的动作。

I was watching TV from seven to nine last night.昨晚七点到九点，我正在看电视。(某一时刻正在进行)

He was working in Shanghai last year.去年他一直在上海工作。(某一阶段正在进行)

She was reading at this time yesterday.昨天这个时候她正在看书。

2.一个长动作发生的时候，另一个短动作发生。(长动作用过去进行时，短动作用一般过去时。)

When I called him,he was sleeping.当我打电话给他的时候，他正在睡觉。

When she visited me,I was cleaning my house.

当她拜访我的时候我正在打扫我的屋子。

3.两个动作同时发生，都用过去进行时。

I was sleeping while he is reading.当他正在阅读的时候，我正在睡觉。

While the teacher is teaching, she is sleeping.老师在上课的时候，她正在睡觉。
