TPO4 Discuss Reviews of Play
But they have to be form play was first performed, so I need to know when that was I suppose I should start with newspaper reviews.
It was written in 1962 and we are supposed to write about its influence on the American theatre and show why it's been so important.
The critiques really tore the play to pieces when it opened.
Nobody had ever seen anything like on the stage.
Really? Is that a big deal?
They want to see what was causing all the fuss.
I had to be, around 16 or os, and my parents took to me see it.
So that was year it premiered?
I mean just two characters on the stage hanging around basically do nothing..
The actors was famous, and besides it was my first time in a real theatre.
In a small town the assignments are pretty traditional.
But when I saw it back then it was anything but boring.
You know, they've done this play at least once on campus.
But you will see why it's still powerful, dramatically speaking.
TPO5 Prerequisites for a film theory course
It seems that pretty much everyone else in the class gets what they are supposed to be doing but I'm not so sure.
Well, the class is for students who are really serous about film.
Oh, that approach, trained film as literature, ignoring what makes it unique?
Well, I'm not surprised that you felling a little lost.
So students in the class you are in should be pretty far along in film studies.
No matter how many times I tell them, they just keep on...
Frankly I can't believe you've lasted this long.
These are pretty in-depth theories we've been discussing and you've been doing OK so far, I guess.
Then may be you could recommend some extra reading I can do to catch up.
The interest is clearly there.
You could view some of the old introductory lectures.
That would give you better handle on the subjects.
It's still a pretty tall oder, and we'll be moving right along, so you will really need to stay on top of it.
Ok, I've been warned.
TPO6 The plan for term paper
How we shouldn't wait until the last minute to find an idea and get started working on our term paper.
Have you come up with anything?
Well, yeah, sort of.
But there was one thing that really did jump out at me.
The section on dialects, 'cause...like, that's the kind of thing that's always sort of intrigued me, you know?
So, you want some pointers where to go for information on the subject?
Dialect accommodation is more manageable sort of topic.
I mean, there are students here from all over the place.
Does everyone change the way they talk to some degree depending on whom they are talking to?
Tell you what, Lisa, write me up a short proposal for this project - how you're going to carry our the experiment and everything - a design plan.
And I think this'll work out just fine.
TPO8 A strategy for attracting customers
I just as soon walk on by.
There is that.
But nowadays, in spite of all that, and expensive membership fees, health clubs are hugely popular, so how come?
Sure, that makes sense.
Well, that's not what I had in mind.
To get more people to stop in?
TPO9 Advice on a term paper's topic
It seems like a great industry to get involved with.
Before entering academia, I worked as a scientist for several food manufacturers and for the US Food and Drug Administration.
As a matter of fact, I'm sort of interested in food packaging.
For a long time, I was leaning towards getting my degree in engineering.
Elsewhere, you might have to hammer courses together on your own.
I guess I luck out then.
Well, in your reading, did anything interest you in particular?
That might be one reason that opaque bottles haven't really caught on.
TPO10 Return a literature book
Here's what happened.
Anyway the syllabus was way too ambitious in my opinion.
I am an English major.
You are lucky to have a professor who includes a lesser-known writer like her on the syllabus, you know, not the usual authors we've all read.
If you're onto literature.
If you prefer, you can return the book and arrange for a store credit.
You don't qualify for a refund.
Policy is policy after all.
The credit carries over for one semester to the next.
I'm really intrigued.
We run out of time to read this book in class.
I'll give it a try.
TOP10 How to get photographs exhibited
Remember last week, you told us that it's really important to get our photography into a show, basically as soon as we can?
Thing is, I am sitting here and I am just not sure how I'd get there.
I mean I've got some work I like, but is it really what a gallery is looking for?
How do I make the right contacts to get it into a show?
Ok, the first thing you should do is you absolutely have to stay true to your artistic vision; take the pictures you want to take.
Don't start trying to catch the flavor of the month and be trendy because you think you'll get into a show - that never works, because you wind up creating something you don't really believe in.
This doesn't mean that you should go into a cave.
Keep up with trends, even think about how your work might fit in with them, but don't mindlessly follow them.
The only thing at stake is your grade.
But to get stuff exhibited
