I just watched the video clips of the Russian airliner's firey crash. Some of them were taken by passengers inside the airplane when this happened. It was devastating to see how the accident developed into a fatal disaster.
There were many human errors in this incident. But one thing that shocked me the most was some passengers even took their luggage with them when they exited the emergency doors. That was the most selfish and stupid thing to do when someone else's lives were on the line!
It was said that when this airplane was in some kind of trouble, the crew didn't have enough time to dump its fuel before landing. And the landing gears of any commercial airplanes are not designed to withstand their landing with a full fuel load. So the airplane was bound to have the disastrous landing.
I have read a book written by a former pilot. It said that you would have only about 20 seconds to escape an airplane when accidents like this happen. So, one should look for the closest emergency exit door and try to get there ASAP during an emergency. Also, avoid wearing clothes with flammable fibrates and no high heel shoes. and most importantly, do not try to take your luggage with you!
