1. If you feel jealous of others, or feel frustrated/unconfident when seeing others' accomplishments, think about this verse:
Jesus said to him, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me." (John 21:22, NIV)
Conclusion: Don't distract our thoughts/minds to others. We should keep the eye only on Jesus! Jesus himself is our great reward, not anything else.
2. At the closing worship, Daniel (the preaching pastor this morning) encouraged people who were suffering a physical pain to come up to the aisle. I saw an old man bent over heavily, walking up slowly with his cane, but singing loudly with the band. At that moment, I was so touched. " He is a lucky man; He might have some pains (e.g. cancer; diabetes, or others), but he has Jesus to rely upon; he has the eternal hope to relieve his pains. "
I was always thinking to myself, "I don't have an offer of post-doc position, so I don't know where to go after 4-months. I don't have a hope now." How I wish I have an offer, so I will have that hope to support me through the struggle of graduation in the next 4 months.
My problem is that I relied my hope on the "post-doc offer".
Isn't the biggest hope for a Christian Jesus? Isn't the biggest hope for a Christian the eternal life in Heaven? Isn't all the earthly thing in the world a dust?
I am as lucky as the old man; we are all lucky; because we have Jesus.
Thank you, Jesus.
