Our brains tend to give us delusions about things. This was the impression today's event "All About America", held by the US Consulate, gave me. I can share the source of which my conclusion came from.

Usually we give a 10-20% of the total money an order costs when we dine in a restaurant as a tip for the service that we get from the person who serves us. The more satisfied we feel about the service, the more we pay the person. However, if the person totally blows it, and you feel unhappy about the service. How much would you tip the person?
Zero to express your unhappiness? No. This is what came into my mind immediately. But the truth is you should still pay at least 10% plus a PENNY which is a coin worth one cent. This penny shows your dissatisfaction with the service.

In America, slightly over ___ of the firefighter are volunteers?
A. 19% B. 29% C. 69% D. 79%
You can have your best guess but I bet even I assure you've got the right answer, you won't believe yourself. The correct number is 69%, which means two thirds of the whole firefights work for free!! I still cannot believe it.

This is also about numbers. Do you know when American citizens are legally allowed to drive, smoke, or drink alcohol?
When you reach 16, you can take a writing test and if you pass it, then you'll access to practice driving but cannot ride with other passengers. When you are 18, then you can take others with you. At such a age, you can also start smoking legally. The legal age of drinking alcohol is 21.

Last one is about languages. Do you know the official language of the United States? I picked the very wrong answer this afternoon. I can give you a few options.
A. English B. Spanish C. Does not exist D. British English
Which one do you guess is true? Does not exist. See? Amazed and surprised right? Thus this is why I say our brains always get the delusions about things!
