Chapter1-3
An impressive point is to add value to ourselves and others.
In order to become the one we wanna be, the place we wanna go, having faith in ourselves is necessary. Sometimes the only person can really beat us down is ourselves, we think that we are not good enough, we are not deserve the success. That mindset will lead to failure or even make us wouldn't like to have a try. Always find value and add value to ourselves, we will build our confident and become stronger from inside to outside.
Add value to others is a track to help them to achieve success. We will feel good about ourselves while doing so. The more people we help, the happier we will be.
Chapter4-6
What I cannot agree more is we must pause to have reflection.
If we keep on moving, no matter what happens, our experiences may not change to insights. Those setbacks we met could happen again. And it's hard for us to record what we learned from what we did. They are precious treasures, also can share with others. I‘d love to sit in my office to make reflections. According to my yearly plan, every month I will pause and check progress. Every day before going to bed, finish daily dairy to make a short reflection for the whole day what I should be grateful for and what I should pay attention to. Make reflections regularly, we are going to be wiser and reach higher.
Chapter7-9
I was deeply touched by turning pain into gain.
Pain is inevitable to everyone of us. We suffer from it and have to face it. Some of them are very severe, but those who cannot kill us will eventually make us stronger. I experienced a lot of pains, each of them pulled me in different levels of depression. After few days break, I will think over about what my problems are, what made me fail, what I can change next time to have better result. So for all the contests and projects I joined, either I win or I learn. Things are no good or bad, it depends on how we see them. It is an option. Take action to make good changes through bad experiences is how we should face pains. Turning pain into gain.
Chapter10-12
Worth making trade-offs, we have to give up to grow up.
My mentor Samuel has ever told me, "you wanna win, you must pay!" Every accomplishment has a price. What kind of trade-offs we would like to make? Now I am planning to do something tough, after struggling for few months, I decided to give up time, money and step out of my comfort zone to challenge myself. Making this trade-off is to reach high in my career and finally achieve my goal. In some circumstances, we are afraid of losing, hard working and no payoff. Afterall, the loss of trade-offs is usually felt long before the gain. When the higher we climb, the tougher the trade-offs. But with persistance, we will definitly meet with growth.
Chapter12-15
Mentor is vital to personal growth.
Find a person to follow, whom can lead us to reach our potential, make a difference in our lives, always be there for us when we need. This person is full of wisdom, experience and talent. Luckily, from the first year to join contest, I have mentors to accompany and support me on my way to the district final stage. Unluckily, in my career, I haven't found a good leader to model, only in books. Eager to have a guru to help me go further. If we could have marriage mentor, parenting mentor, career mentor and different mentor to follow, our whole life journey will be no limitation.
