I often capture my screen to take notes, share ideas with others, demonstrate some complex procedures, and so forth. My favourite gif recorder in Windows is GifCam, a tiny, portable application. However, when I start to begin to work in Ubuntu, I fond there is not such an application in the community. I searched the web for days, eventually, I found several ones. But, almost all of them are complex, and not easy to use (or even to build),attached, the quality is not satisfying.
Peek is a very tiny application, and easy to use. I fond it on Github, and it comes with a binary package. I don't wanna build it myself.
To start the application, type peek
in Terminal, and a record window appears. Then you can drag to resize it. And then enjoy it.
