Money isn't everything. Everyone is given a body , and a brain , and a life . But what we do with our lives is what we give to ourselves - our present to ourselves ."
"You have learned and been loved , that is a great gift . There are those who love by holding on , and there are those who love by letting go ."
Those beautiful and philosophical sentences all come from the book called Dragons' Eggs . J.M.Newsome wrote it .
When I saw the name , I thought it should be a story that has something to do with dragons . Actually , it has nothing to do with dragons or dragons' eggs. It's a tragedy which is about landmines and love. It's also an adventure story.
I feel touched because of the story deeply. Tendai is the leading character who never gives up . He comes to live in an isolated African village after his father has difficulties in making money , and he can't countinue his study any more . His mother died after giving the birth of him , so he has a stepmother , a half-blooded sister and a half brother. It's a really big family .
When Tendai first arrives at the village , he falls in love with a warm-hearted girl with the first sight. The girl is intelligent , lovely and kind . They love each other so much . Unfortunately , good times don't last long , Tendai 's brother is bombed by a landmine by accident and he has to stay in bed in hospital for a long time .Tendai is sad . Of course his family is in a very big trouble . During they are trying to solve the problem , the girl is killed by a landmine . What a poor girl ! However , Tendai is the saddest one . They just have eight-day amour . He runs away and gets lost .
With the help of some nice people , Tendai gets out of the forest and finally finds ways to solve the problem of landmines !
In my opinion , the story is the same as our real life , the landmines are like stumbling blocks and setbacks in our life time, we can't run away from them but try our best to overcome them . Then happiness comes after suffering.
