English has quite a few words which are made by joining two different words together like ‘hangry’, for example: brunch, motel, Brexit. What do we call these words? Are they…
    a) Suitcase words
    b) Portmanteau words, or
    c) Backpack words

suitcase words—words that contain a variety of meanings packed into them, such as conscience, emotions, consciousness, experience, thinking, morality, right, and wrong.

    • grumpy 麦克米伦的解释是:unhappy and dissatisfied, often for no obvious reason
    • kind of oxford 的解释是 slightly ;in some ways 即稍微 有点儿
    • smarty pants 根据urban词典 意为someone who displays intelligence in an annoying way
    • kick in 麦克米伦的释义 : INFORMAL to start to have an effect

    • hangry
      angry because of hunger

      getting annoyed very easily

      join different things together

    • fight or flight hormones
chemicals in the body that prepare us for aggression or escape

a state of being very angry
补充一个短语: be all the rage 十分流行;风靡一时)

without control; without thinking about the consequences of an action

    • And she says that it was the wonderful world of social media that joined the two words together.

    • Hormones are the chemicals we make in our bodies that control certain biological and psychological functions.
