When talking about a useful thing in my family, I will surely say that it's the blood-pressure monitor, which, as the name implies(顾名思义), is used to measure the high and low pressure of people's blood.
It is estimated that close to 1 billion people are suffering from the problem on a global scale. That is to say, one out of six adults in the world is sufeering from high blood pressure. An even higher percentage can be found among the seniors. So unsurprisingly, my grandparents also have this hypertension(高血压). And they regularly use this tool to check their blood pressure in order to detect any possible dangers and keep themselves away from those avoidable problems.
So I believe though the monitor is a simple tool, it is among the most useful things in my family due to its great significant and convenience. Like I've mentioned above, in my family, some of us need it to protect ourselves against those dangers related to hypertension. At the same time, this tool is actually quite fool-proof. One just needs to put his finger onto the sensor and the digit reflecting blood pressure will be instantly displayed on the screen. Therefore, anybody can manage to operate the tool independently.
