They say the source of pain is people's inability to differenciate career, job and hobby. This idea got me thinking about my own situation.
What is my job?
I am a middle school English teacher, a position that i have worked hard in college for 7 years to get, a position which i have spent my golden years in the 20s and 30s on.
What is my career?
Honestly, i do not have a picture of my own grand career, as i do not see the possibility of myself climbing the ladders in our school. Does it mean that i could lie flat and stop trying? NO! Still, it is important to work hard at school, as the kids i am teaching are eager to learn and also lifelong learning is just an unavoidable tread. A person who stops learning is just like a lifeless tree growing in barren field. He or she loses the opportunity to reach the blue crystal sky and white fluffy cloud, the energy to dance in the cool summer breeze and offer sweet autumn fruits. To stop learning is a tradegy for every single person on the earth.
What is my hobby?
Lots of activities intrigues and fascinates me, however, there is nothing i am confident about.
Conclusion?
A seemingly boring job can still be a fun part of life. Try to find the pleasure and satisfcation in this job even though it doesn't look grand. Taking job seriouly doesn't conflict with enjoying life. On the contrary, your passion in your job can spread to other areas of your life.
