九、春节

1. 问候

（1）Happy New Year. 新年快乐。

（2）Happy Chinese New Year. 中国新年快乐。（认可度高）

（3）春节，Spring Festival.

spring，春天； festival， 节日。

2. 吃团年饭

（1）圣诞节Christmas dinner,或者Christmas meal.

（2）春节New year’s dinner或者New year’s meal.

或者Chinese new year’s meal/ dinner.

（3）那么我们通常吃什么呢？

dumpling， 饺子；fish, 鱼；

noodles 面条（通常都是复数）

春卷， spring roll；年糕（rice cake）

汤圆（sweet dumpling）

（4）另外一个习俗就是可能会在饺子里面包一个硬币：hide a coin in one of the dumplings.

hide，表示藏起来； coin，硬币。

If you happen to get a dumpling with a coin inside, you will have good fortune.

（happen to表示碰巧）（fortune，运气。）

PS：luck, 表示因为偶然原因走运，如果想表示“运势”这种感觉， 比较正式，或者用词比较“大”，通常还是说fortune.

3. 烟花和鞭炮

放烟花那个“放”，叫set off，或者light off.

light这个词做名词的是可以表示灯，光。比如说

turn off the light 关灯

烟花叫做 firework，但单数形式很少见，通常都是fireworks. 所以可以说

set off/ light off fireworks. 表示放烟花。

set off firecrackers放鞭炮。

噼里啪啦的拟声词用英文可以怎么说呢？

Boom! Crack! Pop!

Thunder cracked in the sky.

thunder是雷的意思，我们说“雷鸣”。

再比如说：

The tire went pop.

tire，也可以写成tyre, 表示轮胎。

went pop就可以表示砰一声。

4. 穿新衣

穿上新衣服怎么说呢？可以说：

Put on a brand-new outfit.

put on表示穿上，

brand-new表示崭新的，

outfit可以表示一身衣服，一套衣服。

New year, new look.

Time to put on your brand-new outfit.

"I can button my coat myself.”外套

“I can put on a belt myself!”皮带

“Get my feet into my new shoes!”

“All done!”

new hats, new tops, new pants（裤子）.

Can you help the boy get dressed?

Help him put on his hat/ coat/ his pants!

5. 红包

red envelope。red packet, packet可以表示小包装，小盒子。

envelope这个词有两个发音：

/ˈen.və.ləʊp/  或者 /ˈɑːn.və.loʊp/

拜年，

pay a new year’s call/visit.

Pay a visit/ pay a call

give new year’s greetings.

After you give new year’s greetings to your family members, you’ll get red envelopes.

6. 舞龙舞狮

龙， dragon.

舞龙经常翻译成 dragon dance;

舞狮就是lion dance.

Let’s go watch the dragon dance!

我们去看舞龙吧。

很热闹繁忙的街道可以说busy street。

但今天再教大家一个很地道的词：

bustling street, /ˈbʌs.lɪŋ/表示热闹繁忙的。

如果是家人已经聚在一起了，聚集这个动作已经发生了，就说The whole family got together;或者将会聚在一起： The whole family will get together.

Our family got together today and we took a family photo. Look, where’s mommy? Where’s daddy? Where’s granny/grandma? Where’s grandpa?

7. 元宵节

Lantern Festival, 灯笼节。

Halloween, 万圣节。

万圣节用到的lantern是pumpkin lantern, 南瓜灯。

8，新年快乐

Happy new year!

新年快乐。或者

Happy Chinese new year!

春节快乐。 也可以说

Happy year of the Rooster!

鸡年快乐。
