How about I start the story along the lines with the three questions below?
1) Who is Shang?
2) Where did he or she come?
3) Where would he or she go?
First of all, who is Shang? I am using the word “who” rather than “what”, because I believe any dynasty would be full of people.
Archeology studies estimate that the population of the Shang Dynasty at that time (more than 3000 years ago) might be 5 to 7 millions of people.
Who are you? Who am I? Who is she and he? Who are the people in the Shang Dynasty?
Oh no, I was told that the Shang Dynasty starts with a bird. It was said that Shang people were generated out from an egg of a Swallow! (天命玄鳥,降而生商)
Who is Shang? Can we say that Shang is a bird? Does it mean that Shang people are birds?
Since it was only a saying from the ancient time, the archeologists of our country did not find any piece of bird bones from the graves that they were digging, that could get the saying confirmed.
They did find, though, a lot of jade items with bird and swallow shape from Fuhao Tomb (婦好墓). Just like the photo attached here, which is a photo of a true swallow jade item dug out from that tomb.
Well, you might wonder what kind of a love that I am able to describe just by starting the story with a bird.
If you would have interests in finding out the location of the photo (from which book does it come out), you might get a clue to start your understanding about the Shang Dynasty and the love I am keen of.
One more sentence before I have this part closed. You show a surprise when I said I was going to write something about love. It sounds like that you think I do not believe love at all!
No, I do not believe love on the basis of believing love, deeply! This story would have it confirmed firmly.
