    Tom:I really hate this cold winter weather.
               我真的很讨厌这种寒冷的冬天。

    Lisa:Really? I don't mind it. It's not so bad.  
                真的吗?我不介意,冬天没有那么糟糕

    Tom:First, it's really cold. 第一,冬天真的很冷
               Second, I don't like the short days and the long nights. It's always dark.
                第二,我不喜欢日短夜长,总是黑漆漆的
               (陈述原因, first第一……,second第二……)

    Lisa:Sure, but it will be over soon. Spring is coming and warmer weather.
    是的,不过冬天马上就结束了, 春天就要来了,温暖的天气也要来了

    Tom:Yes, and longer days.是的,以及更长的白天。(省略句,and longer days is coming.)


    Lisa:What about summers? Do you like hot weather?  

    Tom:I don't like summer weather either.(either用在否定句中,表示也)

    Lisa:Is it too hot for you?

    Tom:Yes, it's too hot. Every day is hot and humid. So I always feel tired and thirsty.(feel+adj.表示感受)

    Lisa:Yeah, me too. I take a shower twice a day.
    (take a shower洗澡)
    (表示频率:once一次,twice两次,three times三次,三之后都是规律的表达方式)


    Lisa:So which is worse, summer or winter?(bad→worse, good→better)

    Tom:Good question. I guess I prefer winter. What about you?
    (prefer sth.更喜欢某物)→Between  ice cream and juice, I prefer ice cream.在冰淇淋跟果汁之间,我更喜欢冰淇淋。
    (prefer A to B)→Tom prefer winter to summer比起夏天,Tom更喜欢冬天。
    (prefer to do)→I prefer to read books at night.在晚上我更喜欢看书。

    Lisa:Well, I prefer winter too. I don't mind the long nights.我也更喜欢冬天,我并不介意夜晚比较长


    Lisa:Of course the best seasons are spring and autumn.当然啦,最好的季节是春天和秋天

    Tom:Which of those do you prefer?你更喜欢哪一个

    Lisa:Within those two, I prefer autumn.在这两者之间,我更喜欢秋天

    Tom:Why do you prefer autumn?你为什么更喜欢秋天呢?

    Lisa:I love it when the leaves turn different colors.

    Tom:I agree with you. I guess autumn is my favorite season too.
               (agree with同意,表示和……意见一致)


    Lisa:I was surprised, Tom. I thought you would prefer spring.
    (surprised:意外的,惊讶的)→表示人的主观感受,一般是人作为主语   eg: I'm surprised.
    (surprising:令人感到惊讶的)→一般是作为对事件的客观评价。  eg: The news is surprising.

    Tom:Why is that? 为什么会那样认为呢?

    Lisa:Everything is young and new in spring, right? 在春天一切都是年轻的和新的,不是吗?
    (in+season: 在春天in spring, 在冬天 in winter)

    Tom:Well, maybe I'll change my mind.(change one's mind改变主意)


    观点的表达:prefer, mind , agree with
