                                    (n) Usually, wearables. something that may be worn or carried on the body, as an item of clothing.

                                   Example: The wearable computer is yet another gadget in the open- ended development that unites evolution and revolution.

    7. deride(v):    to laugh at in scorn or contempt; scoff or jeer at; mock.

       Synonyms:  taunt, flout, gibe, banter, rally.

       Example:   I am angry with all those in France who jumped at the occasion to deride the American justice system, and America in general.

    8. backdrop(n/v): the background of an event; setting.

       Synonym:scenery

       Example: Parliament is not just the backdrop to the Palliser novels but really their subject

    9. hedge(n):(n) a row of bushes or small trees planted close together, especially when forming a fence or boundary; hedgerow.(篱笆)

                         (v) to enclose with or separate by a hedge.

       Synonyms:  evade, stall.

        Example:Eventually he found a place from which he could see through a gap in the hedge.

    10. ultrasound(n) :Physics. sound with a frequency greater than 20,000 Hz, approximately the upper limit of human hearing.(超声)

        Synonyms: injury, shock.

    14. mole(n) : a spy who becomes part of and works from within the ranks of an enemy governmental staff or intelligence agency.

         Example: She was briefly outed by Red as a mole and then allowed to recede into the background again.

         Synonym:spy.

      15. contraceptive(adj/n):  (adj) tending or serving to prevent conception or impregnation.(避孕的)

                                             (n):a contraceptive device, drug, foam

              Example:  In fact, 54 percent of women who had abortions had used a contraceptive method, if incorrectly, in the month they got pregnant.

             Synonyms: condom, pill.

    16. menopause (n): the period of permanent cessation of menstruation, usually occurring between the ages of 45 and 55.(更年期,绝经期).
