In chapter 20, the little prince saw the roses in a garden, they all like his flower, and there were five thousand of them, all alike. This makes the little prince very sad, because he once thought he was rich with the unique flower.
It’s like when we were kids, it’s easy to be satisfied with what we have before we’ve seen the real world. So when we saw the colorful world for the first time, we’ll feel unhappy because our insignificant.
In chapter 21, the fox came on stage, she is the wise man of life, taught the little prince what is love. At first ,she told the little prince ‘tame’ means establish ties. Only when two people established ties they could be unique in each other’s world. When a person was tamed by another person, his world would change, even things that meant nothing to him before have become different now.
Then the fox taught the little prince how to tame her. “ first sit down at a little distance from me and sit a little closer to me every day.”
Tame means establish ties means spend time means accompany means making a shared memory.
At last the little prince came back to the garden to look again at the roses. He understood that love is giving and responsible, and said goodbye to the fox.
The fox knew that the little prince loved rose, but she still let the little prince tame herself. Her love is not for possession, but for experience.
It is a very open-minded view of love.
