    Key Points in this Chapter

If Chapter 1 shows you the idea of connecting, chapter 2 shows you the importance of connecting, then this chapter begins to tell you  "How to Connect".

It is amazing to find that two teachers, two speakers who present the same content will receive a totally different respond from their audience when presenting the same materials. The key is connecting.

90% of the connecting has nothing to do with what we actually say. When we communicate, we must include thought, emotion and action. Remember to combine the things you know, you do and you feel.

Any message you try to convey must contain a piece of you. Nothing can happen through you until it happens to you.

Always think about the following questions:

    1. Did I do my best: Integrity.  2. Did I please my sponsor: Expectation.  3. Did I understand and relate to the audience: Relevance.  4.Did I add value to the people: Value.  5.Did I give people a game plan: Application. 6. Did I make a difference: Change.

    The four components of connecting

    1. Visual: Takes 70% of the communication, the first 7 seconds are the key for a successful presentation.

    You are the message.

Remember, smiles, hugs and kisses, we want them to feel loved, accepted and special.

    2. Intellectually: Know your subject, know yourself.

If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. When you find yourself, you find your audience.

Really live the story that you are trying to tell your audience.

    3. Emotionally: If you want to win over another person, first win his heart, and the rest of him is likely to follow. The exact words that you use are far less important than the energy, intensity, and conviction with which you use them.

People may hear your words, but they feel your attitude.

To be charisma, you just need to be positive, believe in yourself, and focus on others.

    4. Verbally: Carefully choose your words. Tone, inflection, timing, volume, pacing all matters.

Try to combine the above four points, be yourself and find your style.

    Reflection on this Chapter

One thing that I really learn from this chapter is to put your thoughts, emotions and actions together. Before, I know I was missing something during my communication, but it never occurs to me that this point is so important.

Another things that I learn is be the message yourself. And try to build up a more vivid visual communication through emotions and body language.
