苏州的河

苏州的河望东南而去随势淌流，

The rivers of Suzhou flow to the southeast

,逶迤之处皆小桥人家。

The places rivers had meandered down are of small bridges and person’s settlements .

黛瓦粉墙下蒹葭萋萋，

Thick reeds under the white walls and  black tiles,

古道河浜上水墨氤氤。

Above ancient roads and river islets ink color mix with water in turbulence.

苏州人临水泽而居，

Suzhou people live close to the water,

舟楫往来时有渔歌唱晚。

They catch fish and sing songs by the side of the night while boating.

苏州的河岸自成街通衢，

The river banks of Suzhou are natural thoroughfares

桥街相连四通而八达；

Bridges is connected to streets in all directions;

其河埠廊坊任意辗转，

Rriver wharves and corridors rise and fall with the terrain,

那过街骑楼悚然高标；

The arcades across streets stand erected

重脊高檐间互相轩邈，

Heavy rims and high eaves keep up with the Joneses in height  between each other

深宅大院里韬光养晦，

Someone hide his strength in a deep courtyard,

水阁临河处雾霭蒸腾，

The water pavilions are steaming with mists

,烟雨天青时水墨渲染。

The sky blue mists and rains mingle up  as water renderer with inks

苏州河岸的自然之美已然沛矣，

The natural beauty of the Banks of Suzhou is rich enough,

苏州河边人文意境尤为浓郁，

The cultural and artistic atmosphere of Suzhou River is Particularly strong

流觞曲水边放浪着欧阳才子的形骸，

The body of Ouyang wits stands beside the the crooked brook

小桥围栏处依稀有谢公灵运的履痕，

There are traces of  Master Xie Ling Yun at the fence of the small bridge.

河面画舫里嘤嘤兮吴越女子柔声软语，

Wuyue woman was talking softly in boat on the surface of river

河岸路面上迟迟然行旅游子望门投止，

The wanderer lingering on the river-bank road hesitates to find a hotel

苏州河流经之处不只是天下财物富贵之地，

The Suzhou River basin is not only a place of wealth and nobility。

更是无天涯数孤旅者的温柔之乡。

But also the gentle homeland of countless lonely wanderers.

苏州河里的水千年流逝

The water of Suzhou River has been flowing for thousands of years,

但涛声依旧，

But the sound of the waves keeps in the same mood 

不变的还有虎丘山上的云烟和人们的欢颜，

as well as clouds and smokes hovering above Huqiu Mountain and people's smile,

寒山寺的钟声再次响起，

When the bell of Hanshan Temple ring again, 

仓皇中惊起的不再限于沦落人的悲伤惆怅，

The shock is no longer the grief and sadness of the fallen in haste,

而更多是沧海桑田般的荡气回肠和赫然开朗，

But more are great eloquence and light-heartedness after the vicissitudes of life.

还有那身心宁静后新的希望。
