In the Center of Eden

And out of the ground the Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight or to be desired—good for food; the tree of life also in the center of the garden^[1], and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and blessing and calamity.

Trees that pleasant to sight or good for food，grow everywhere. 或以色存，或以用存，其他则不存。

But life tree and knowledge tree are just in the center of Eden. Different good from evil, blessing from calamity are so important, these knowledges with the life make the core of a person.

Good and evil, 孟子曰：“是非之心，义之端。”
Blessing and calamity, “羞恶之心，礼之端。”
The knowledge，“智”也。

“仁”者，以“智”行“义”与“礼”而已也。

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden;
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and blessing and calamity you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.

So we choose die, because knowledge of good and evil and blessing and calamity is more important than life.

孟子曰：“生，亦我所欲也，义，亦我所欲也，二者不可得兼，舍生而取义者也。”
