What a day! Yesterday I worked from 8 to 8, which means more than ten hours excluding lunch and dinner time. The reason that I worked so hard and urgent was because there was a pressing deadline looming by the weekend and our guys had just decided what to do. By the time they sent me the request and all the information, I just had 4 days to finish something that normally would take more than a week to do!
I have been idling on the hydraulic modeling work for a short while. I felt rusty when this happened. It took me some effort to get back to my normal self. But once I got focused, I would start to enjoy my work because it requires a great deal of concentration and thinking. After a day of effort, I started to see the "light to the end of the tunnel". I've already sent my preliminary computer model that I have developed to our team for review and reported my work progress.
I love working remotely since I can be with my parents and take care of them while I am working. The challenge of remote working is the server connection speed. The images always refreshed slowly on my end and this slowed me down because I had to wait for those delays. The other thing is the communications with my team. Skype works fine but nothing compares face to face meetings. I even promoted WeChat to my colleagues in the U.S.. So far two had signed up and connected with me. It works like a charm.
