    此总结根据现象级英语Eric老师的导读所做的总结帮助自己理解记忆。

    物做主语会是句子更加生动,句式多样化。claim是一个典型的可以物做主语的动词。比如:The car crash claimed three lives.

    Virtual: almost or very nearly. virtual civil war

    See:1)to experience or suffer from. She has seen a lot in her life. The buffet has probably seen its last supper.2) to be the time when an event happen  Next year sees the centenary of Mahler’s death.3) to be the place where the event happens This stadium has seen many thrilling football games.

    3. eclectic menu: 一家饭店提供各式佳肴。eclectic:not following one style or set ideas but choosing from or using a wide variety  She has very eclectic tastes in literature.

    3.倒装句:So astonished was Alaba, an Uber driver.

    4.形容什么地方很空 The cast check-in hall was nearly deserted.

    5. Many restrictions-including border closures and quarantines post- arrival- are still in place. in place 生效

    6. Many of the changes will last only until a vaccine for covid-19 appear. But some will stick.

    10. Purveyors of services beyond aviation and accommodation depend on it. purveyor : 供应商

    11. razor-thin: 极小的

    12. They will have to shrink to survive.

    13. Puns feature heavily.

    14. To those in the know: 知情

    15. Over the last 15years, the public has cottoned on. Cotton on: to begin to understand or realize sth without being told. I suddenly cottoned on what he was doing.

    16. Book-cooking:做假账。
