As exemplified by The We Company getting into urban design, companies are finding new ways to use space. There have been projects to put old buildings into new use, such as San Franciso Pier 70. Also, there are initiatives to rethink how we use space, such as the Netherland's "brainport smart district". These are largely startup ideas, and some of them might make it big.
