May the fifth, 2016, it was my unexpectedly lucky day today.
The weather report said we are expecting big rain and strong wind tomorrow. My sixth sense told me it's about time to welcome typhoon in this city. Shenzhen is a seaside city in South China. It has an unusually long period of hot weather starting from late April to the end of October. It has more typhoons than any other cities in Guangdong province.
The weather was extremely nice in the morning. I decided to hang out for a fresh breath of the air in the central park of Pingshan New District where I just settled down not long before. I had searched for the best route to my destination from the internet and it took me about 40 minutes roughly. I had forgotten the weather report.
I went to the restaurant for a quick lunch before I started my journey. When I came out of the restaurant, I found that the sky was covered by thick dark clouds which threathened a big storm and reminded me of the snorty weather report. I stopped and stood still in front of the restaurant, thinking of what I should do next.
To retreat or go on with my plan, were my only two simple choices.
I had been fed up with staying indoors, so I made up my mind to take a risk. The worst outcome would be nothing more than a getting-wet-all-over.
I took bus No.B726 to the terminal bus station first. When I got off the bus,the rain started to fall. The strong wind made it hard to hold up an umbrella, so I changed my route and sought myself a shelter from the rain. I was on my way again when the rain stopped after several minutes. I walked along a newly built road and soon came to a primary school outside the gate of which a man was re-organizing the books returned in front of a self-service book borrowing and returning system. I intended to self-register for a library card but did not succeed because the cash machine had stopped working.
The central park was not far away from the school according to the mobile map, but the park environment dispointed me when I finally arrived, so I decided to go to the Pingshan New District Library to register for a library card and do some reading there.
There was another self-service book borrowing and returning system at the first floor and I finally succeed iin registering for the card. I took the lift to the third floor where the library was. I took a look around the library and found that there were not many books. I couldn't find any books written in English. Literary works took up most of the books. I found myself two books, one was related to a famous Chinese historic figure, the other was a collection of observations and ideas from a Japanese about China.
I stayed in the library for 3 hours totally. Before I left, I borrowed three other books about sales. I had cultivated an interest in people since I decided to be a saleswoman.
