The raging Australian bushfires have charred the landscape of several parts of the country with New South Wales and Victoria suffering the worse. It’s thought that around nine million acres of land have been ravaged by the deadly blaze.
Are the fires in Australia out yet?
More than a hundred fires are still burning across the country.
The World Wildlife Fund said one billion animals have perished in the fires and that total could continue to rise long after the blaze stops as they struggle to find food and habitat.
On Kangaroo Island alone, more than 50,000 koalas are thought to have died.

Heavy rains have been forecast for this week after a long dry spell which further worsened the fires.
The rain is forecast for parts of the central and northern coasts of Australia with thunderstorms and showers expected in NSW on Thursday.
Up to 25mm of rain is forecast to fall in parts of the south coast where a lot of fires are still active.
Unfortunately, the likelihood of the downpours ending the long-running bushfire is low.
Speaking to Guardian Australia, NSW Rural Fire Service spokesperson Anthony Bradstreet said: “With the period of drought we’ve experienced, we’d need to get extended periods of consistent rainfall in order to get the moisture content up enough for it to put out fires … which is unlikely.”
The NSW RFS is focussing on fires in the Snowy Valley region where 337,000 hectares of land has burned.
In the far east of Victoria, a fire on the Cann Road bridge flared up prompting an emergency warning for Noorinbee and Noorinbee North (near the NSW border) to be issued.
