Change

In fact, I don’t think I am a successful English teacher. I will never forget the time when I first met with my students. They are the sixth grade students. When I stood the stage and said hello to them, they didn’t say anything to me. Why? They are afraid to speak English because they are afraid of making mistake. In fact, they have learnt English for three years. Sometimes, I speak English to them in my class, they can’t understand me. When I speak Chinese, they can listen well. So, most time of my class, I spoke Chinese. I gave up!

But I still know: with the development of the society, English is more and more important. As an English teacher ， I must give my students more knowledge.  English is a language. The purpose of learning English is to communicate. As a teacher, I also make my students open  their mouths and speak English bravely.

This summer holiday, I met Mr.Zhang. I read <GRIT>. This book is written by Angela. Duchworth. The aothor is a psychologist from the U.S.  She said that a significant prediction of success is grit. I think I found the reason of my failure . I have no grit. Grit is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals. When my students didn’t understand me, I gave up! We need to be gritty about getting our students grittier. Teaching is a job that is demanding. So, I need to change and improve myself.

How to change? First, I will speak English in my class, from easy to hard, from slow to fast. Next, I will find some interesting and easy English films for my students. This will make them like English. Finally, I will ask them to speak more and more English.  I believe that will make them improve their English!
