I came to Shanghai in late 2006 when one of my college classmates was on his postgraduate period in East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai. He encouraged me to come to the city and kindly offered me a bed in his dorm. So I started living here at a very low expense.
My parents sent me off at the train station as an encouragement on the day I left my hometown Jinan. The passenger beside me who did glasses business told me I might have made a bad choice.
It was a busy workday morning when I reached Shanghai railway station after 10 hours train trip on the night of Oct 30th 2006. I took subway line 1 to Shanghai South Railway Station where the university is located. When I walked out of the station the sweet osmanthus fragrance came to my nose at once which left me a pretty good first impression of the city.
The first task after I settled down was to find a job in this new city. I spent nearly 2 months to deliver my resume online to those pharma corporations which matched my major but there was no rely at all except some positions of insurance sales.
My money almost ran out in the first two months, so I decided to make some changes to find a job. I began to recommend myself door-to-door in those business buildings. Although I got some chances of interview, I got no offer still. One afternoon I got my first phone call of interview. It was a sales position of a conference corporation. I finally got the job, my first job in Shanghai.
