Swear /Oath/Pledge/Vow
(1)swear:
Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.--
(2)pledge:
The governmentpledged their support for the plan.
Has he fulfilled his election pledge?--他履行竞选时的承诺了吗?
(3)oath:
He took an oath of loyalty to the government.--
Shevowed never to speak to him again.--她发誓再也不和他说话了。
I made a silent vow to be more careful in the future.--我暗暗发誓,日后要倍加小心。
pledge:保证,承诺,书面语中常用;
oath:宣誓,正式场合才用;
