I went to the beach this morning. Since I went there after 8 o’clock, it’s a little too late. The sun was way up, and it was very hot. I went running anyway.

There were more people this morning than usual. I saw that there was a surfing class, and a cross-training class going on there. Everybody likes to take advantage of the good weather and beautiful beachfront to do all kinds of exercises.

This part of the beachfront is kind of rough. The sandy beach is narrower than the Hollywood beach (not the one in California), which I went often before we moved to this area. And sand slope to the ocean is steeper. Recently, there are too many seaweeds pushed up to ashore that makes running on the beach more difficult. But I still prefer coming here, at least once in a week to enjoy the ocean view and the sound of waves.

It was a busy day for me. In the afternoon, I had some friends came over for the European Soccer Championship final watch party. One of my friends is a Venezuelan. I found that these Latin American guys really know soccer and are crazy about the games. They used to play when they were in their 20’s.

The guy told me when he played, he learned from a Brasilian coach how to kick a curved ball. It like how we would play ping pong, you give it a spin to make the ball more unpredictable. I thought about those Chinese “professional soccer players”, they could barely make it to where they wanted to kick. And they got beaten up all the time by a team from a country that’s about a hundred times smaller than China.
