Interviews
The optional interview provides an opportunity for an applicant to have a meaningful conversation with a Stanford alumnus/a. This two-way exchange allows you to learn more about Stanford, and the Admission Office to learn more about you. Restrictive Early Action interviews occur during the first few weeks of November and Regular Decision interviews from mid-January to mid-February.

1、中国大陆申请斯坦福的学生数量 已经远远超过了 目前在中国大陆工作的斯坦福校友 能负担的面试数量，所以为了减轻校友压力，也为了公平，一个都不面试。
2、中国大陆家长和学生们已经获取了足够多的关于斯坦福的信息，甚至了解的比校友还多，在华校友已经不能通过面试向潜在校友传达更多信息了。
3、不排除中国学生家长能量太大，总能通过各种关系找到斯坦福校友，而本身斯坦福在华校友就联系密切，找到一个就等于找到全部。中国又是一个人情社会。校友面试本来是校友帮助招生办对潜在学生进行性格等方面的全方位了解，可如果收获一堆堆溢美之词连篇的面试notes并无实际意义。

Applicants do not need to request interviews; if your high school is in an interview area (listed above), you are eligible for an interview with a local, trained Stanford alumnus/a volunteer. It may be that we do not have enough volunteers in your area to interview each applicant. Please do not worry if you are not contacted, as your application will be considered complete without an interview. Applications are not pre-screened for interview eligibility.

The majority of Stanford interviews are conducted in person; an interviewer will invite you to meet you in a public place, such as a coffee shop or library. You may be offered the opportunity to have a video chat interview on a mutually agreed upon platform, if necessitated by distance or schedule constraints.

Since the interview is meant to be an informal conversation, no formal preparation is needed. There is no set list of questions that interviewers are required to ask, which allows for each interview to be a unique conversation.
