About the author

DengRong，nicknamed Maomao，was born in SouthwestChina's Chongqing City，the fourth childof DengXiaoping.

After graduation from the Giris' Middle School attached to the Beijing Normal University, she went to live and work for three years in a rural village on the loess plateau in the northern part of Northwest China's Shaanxi Province. Later，she studied medicine in and graduated from the Beijing Medical College （today's Medical School of Peking University）.

 In the early 1980s, she worked for four years first as attache and then third secretary in the Consulate Section of the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC. Returning home，she worked in the Research Office of the Chinese General Office of the National People's Congress. Appointed the Office deputy director，sheengaged in research in the legislation and legislative systems.

She was a deputy to the Eighth National People's Congress and the executive memberof the Sixth Ail-China Women's Federation. She is now vice-chairwoman of the China Association for International Friendly Contact，vice-chairwoman of the China Charity Federation, vice-chairwoman of the Sino-Russia Committee for Peace，Friendshipand Development and executive president of the Beijing Music Festival.

Also a member of the Chinese Writers Association，she has published many articles in newspapers and magazines. In1993，her biography My Father Deng Xiaoping was published. It has been translated into Japanese，Russian，English，French，Korean，Thaiand Dutch.

Her latest book，Deng Xiaoping and the Cultural Revolution，which rolled offthe presses in Chinese in 2000, has been translated into Korea and published inSouth Korea. The book's Russian and Japanese versions will hit bookstores laterthis year.

邓榕，小名毛毛，出生于中国西南城市重庆，是邓小平的小女儿。从北京师范大学女子附属中学毕业后，她去中国西北省份山西的北部黄土高原的一个乡村生活、工作了三年。后来，她又在北京医学院学习医学，并取得学位。（北京医学院即今天的北京大学医学部）。上个世纪80年代初，她先后担任中国驻美大使馆的随员和三等秘书，长达四年。回国后，她在全国人大常委会政研室上班。曾任民主与法制出版社社长。

现任中国国际友好联合会副主席、中华慈善总会副主席、中俄和平、友好与发展委员会副主席、北京国际音乐节执行主席。

她也是中国作家协会成员，已经在报刊、杂志上发表过很多文章。1993年，发表传记文学《我的父亲邓小平》。该书已被翻译成日语、俄语、英语、法语、汉语、泰语还要荷兰语。

最新力作《邓小平文革岁月》也于2000年以中文版上市了。这本书的韩语版也已在韩国上市。明年，俄语版和日语版也将上市。
