了解两个常考的情态词组吧:might as well和had better。
- might as well的意思是“不妨…,倒不如…”,比如:
You might as well apply for the job; you've got nothing to lose.
你倒不如申请这份工作,反正也没啥损失。
You might as well tell her the truth.
你不妨告诉她真相。
- had better的意思是“最好(做某事)”,用于表示劝告、建议或一种愿望,比如:
You'd better finish today's assignment, for tomorrow we'll have other things to do.
你最好把今天的任务完成,因为明天我们还有其他事情要做。
You'd better go home and rest up a little.
你最好回家好好休息。
注意:had better 后要跟动词原形,构成had better do sth.句型。
另外,had better的否定形式是had better not,比如:
You hadn’t better go. (×)
You had better not go. (√)
