George Washington,as The first and the greatest President of US,I believe He has a lot of Spiritual qualities that we can learn.We all know that there are many founding fathers.But what makes him to be the only leader who guided America?Let’s have a talk and you will know.
About his life,We can roughly divide it into four stages:His Youth-hood.And the process of French and Indian war.Also the terms during the independence war and Presidency.
1.GW’s Youth hood:
His father Gus Washington died early.After his half brother Lawrence Started to accompany him.Lawrence was a clever man.So he affected him lot on GW’s Gentlemanly style And the dream of being a soldier in the process of teaching.GW himself also kept learning(about surveying,knowledge and etiquette).This Laid the foundation for his future military and political career.
2.GW’s Life during the French and Indian war:
The time he entered the military career was the start of French and Indian war.In the war he show his bravery.He not only survived in the Disadvantageous situation but also deliver letter to the French envoy in face of danger.And he attacked Fort several times.So We could learn perseverance and bravery from his behavior.Although he didn’t have sufficient experience,but It was extraordinary for a young man who has just entered the military camp.
3.GW’s life during the independence war:
British has a lot of debts because of the war,so they start to tax colony very hard.This led to the War of Independence.In the terms of independence war,He was Appointed Commander in Chief.Continental Congress didn’t have enough money and resources,so GW can only fight with militias.This made conditions of the American troop difficult.But He could use limited resources to achieve the maximum benefit.First he could use Protracted tactics and use spies in the inside(give British wrong informations).And the help of French.Second he show his benevolent in the process of Valley Forge.He kept encouraging his soldiers in the cold weather.And he gave them hope when hope was gone.He gave them strength to journey on.We also can check Washington’s Gentlemanly style.He chose to trust General Charles Lee before the Battle of the Monmouth when Lee repeatedly betrayed the US military operations.Another way he chose to focus on overall situation instead of little things.
So in the war of independence,we could not only learn his perseverance and Intelligence,but also can get his great vision.In face of war and betrayal,what will you choose?Washington chose trust Lee temporary so war will go on.
4.GW’s life during the Presidency career:
During the two terms of Presidency,He has a great influence on the people and country.Before he became a president,he did several things.First he He dismissed army and Retiring from office after war.Second he unified different proposals to establishing Constitution.The reason he didn’t talk was He represents the whole country,he need to be a solid Wall.And Third,He refused the suggestion of General Nicola.Nicola suggested him to be king so states and people will Support the central government unconditionally.Even Hamilton suggested him to Follow Caesar,use army and made himself a monarchy.The reason he refused was that He wanted to governing the country in democratic way instead of being the next British(monarchy).So he solved it in the constitutional way.
After He became President in 1789 by electing of people,GW solved several major events.First he Sign Jay treaty when the French Revolution begins.Second,In face of Whiskey rebellion,he wanted to solved it in peace(Later, he had to use the army, but he also dismissed them afterwards).At last he released the prisoners.Third in face of struggles between Republicans and Federalists although he supported none of them,but however he was “Standing” at Federalist side.This incident shows that he always focuses on the country.His view was not narrow as others.
He retired after two terms and went back to Mount Vernon.
So what can we learn from George Washington life?
Yes,He showed courage and wisdom in the war,so he knew how to deal with different situations(and he know how to communicate with people).But I think This is not the most important.The most important is that we can clearly see that he always maintains a big Vision.And He always focus on major events.His magnanimity and large/overall situation was worth learning.And That is why he could become only leader!
In our daily life,It may be difficult for us to have such a big heart.But it must be worth pursuing.In that way,our life will be colorful and meaningful.And the target of your life may get clearer.
