    成绩到底是不是第一竞争力: 在斯坦福大学申请栏目中(TEST),明确写出了一下的解释:

    Standardized testing is one way to highlight academic preparedness, along with the many other application requirements that also inform academic strength. There are no minimum test scores required to be admitted to Stanford, and there is no score that guarantees admission. At Stanford, we review applications holistically, meaning every component of the application is valuable to us as we get to know each student.

    For the application process, we require test scores from either the ACT with Writing or the SAT with Essay. If you take the ACT, the writing section is required. If you take the SAT, the essay section is required. Test scores without writing/essay will not complete the testing requirement for the application.

    面试:一次来自于校方的正式面试。

    The primary criterion for admission to Stanford is academic excellence. We look for your preparation and potential to succeed. We expect you to challenge yourself throughout high school and to do very well. The most important credential that enables us to evaluate your academic record is the high school transcript. Remember, however, that our evaluation of your application goes beyond any numerical formula. There is no minimum GPA or test score; nor is there any specific number of AP or honors courses you must have on your transcript in order to be admitted to Stanford.

We want to see the energy and depth of commitment you will bring to your endeavors, whether that means in a research lab, as part of a community organization, during a performance or on an athletic field.     Just as no two Stanford students are the same, each applicant to Stanford is unique. This means that as we review each application, we pay careful attention to unique circumstances. We take into account family background, educational differences, employment and life experiences. By focusing on your achievements within context, we evaluate how you have excelled within your unique school environment and how you have taken advantage of what was available to you in your school and community.

    It is important to know these variables are not listed in order of importance in our evaluation and selection process. We review applications holistically. No portion of the application is considered without the rest of the application.

    那么这一段该如何来进行解毒和解析呢?

    首先我们解读学术表现:对于高中生来讲,最好的学术能力体现,就是你的高中成绩单,而非SAT ACT 托福 雅思等考试内容。英文考试内容只是决定你是否能够流利的交流,理解课堂等等,并不是是否录取的标准。但是,高中成绩单确实你学习能力,对待学术的态度,以及部分学术能力的体现。

    智能表现里:承诺,奉贤,真正的兴趣是什么?这是智能表现的核心内容。斯坦福想要看到你的付出,不论是在实验室的研究里,还是在社区的工作里,你的创新和你的知识运用能力。

    个人背景:你的成就在哪里,在不同的家庭背景,学习环境中,你有所突破吗?你在你的成长环境里,你的进步在哪里?

    总结:斯坦福作为一个没有成绩为导向和标准的学校,无疑是要求非常之高的。就像介绍里讲的,每一个部分都是录取的关键,没有主次之分。对于中国的学生,甚至是老师来说,这是一种挑战。在成绩为导向的思维力,我们很难理解如何系统性和全面性的去评价一个人才。甚至能过在过往的学生里听到甚至有老师建议PS以及其他文书随便乱编的可笑事迹。如何才能真正让自己成为有价值的人才,斯坦福给出了一个很好的例子,我们要全面的去提升自己,找准自己的方向,不畏惧自己的挑战,如何利用现有的家庭环境,学校环境,在这些限制里面做出改变,获得优势,取得成就,这就是斯坦福想要看到的学生。不要做一个单纯的学习型人才,但是更不能抛弃学习。
