A letter to the World
My son starts school today
All the worries he hopes to keep at bay
To the world I am writing a letter
In the hope the world will treat him better
It's going to be strange and new to him for a while
With endless homework at his feet pile
The morning will see him walk down the first steps
His chest rise and fall with every breath he takes
To go through great adventures he gives his prays
To truly live his life he needs love and faith
So world
Please take him by his young hand
And present to him the wonderful unknown land
There's much he needs to know
Be a hero, not a scoundrel for example
A crooked man may have his time of cherries
But it's a dedicated one whose name will last centuries
Always explore the wonder of books
One's wounds books repair, one's feelings they soothe
Pnder to eternal mystery of mother Nature
The world won't be as beautiful without all living creatures
Whatever others say, have faith in your ideas
Dream a dream that no one ever dares
Sell your brawn and brain to the highest bidder
But never price your heart and soul for the social ladder
As the test of fire makes fine steel
A boy won't grow without some ordeal
Yet world, treat my boy gently still
Cos he's such a nice little fellow
A mom can't always be at his boy's heels
Yet her tender voice is like that of a cello
And her wishes are the most sincere and mellow.
