Live beautifully no matter what

The following scripts are my dictation of Tony Robbins’s talk at Wisdom Bread. He is trying to express one idea: choosing to be happy whatever happens is a decision, which is totally in our control. Be a master of your own, don’t be a slave of your emotions or desires. Learn to live beautifully whenever, wherever, whatever and however.

I believe our life is controlled by one force: decisions. Life gives us choices. The decisions we make control us much more than the conditions we meet. It’s not your conditions. It’s your decisions. Decisions on what to believe. Decisions on what to do. Decisions on what to give. Look back 15, 10, and 5 years ago, and think about a decision you made. If you had made a different decision, you would have had a totally different life. Better or worse, I don’t know, but totally different. The most important decision you could make above any on the face of the earth is deciding no matter what happens in your life, you are going to live in a beautiful state. The decision to say I am not gonna suffer that if suffering arises. Pain is one thing; suffering is another. Suffering could be worry, could be anger, could be frustration. It’s anything that takes you out of the beautiful state. And here is what people don’t get: you can end suffering but stop focusing on yourself and focus on something you want to serve greater than yourself: your children, your wife, your mission, your life. You can get it out in an instant because the nature of the human mind is to constantly compare things. Your brain is a two-million-year-old device. And it is not designed to make you happy. It’s designed to make you survive. And that’s why it’s always looking for what’s wrong. It used to be, what’s wrong, a sabre tooth tiger, so I can protect myself. Now people are worried about what people think about them or do they have enough money when 2/3 of the planet lives on 2 dollars a day and you are making 38000 dollars. You are rich. The poorest of the poor in our country are considered rich. I am not saying that they should stay that way. My goal is to have you consider something. Life is short. We don’t know how short it is going to be. But if you only have a week to live, I bet you won’t allow yourself to suffer over a little crap that makes you crazy normally. I think you should probably spend time with those you’d love. You would do what you love. You’d take on a sunset. You’d smell the air. You’d take in everything in the final moments you finally do. So my thing is why wait? Why wait? What not just decide and say:” I have made the most important decision of all. I am gonna live in a beautiful state. ” here is what’s gonna happen. You may lose a family member. You probably will. Someone may get cancer. Your business may suffer. The government may change the rules radically, and you can do nothing about it. You might go bankrupt. You might get divorced. I am not saying anybody will, but no one knows what’s gonna really happen in your life. Life is full of uncertainty. But here is what you can know: you can decide no matter, whatever happens, you can have a great time. So, my invitation is, as great as it is to achieve, more important to enjoy, what the hell is success? It’s hitting an expectation. Now I tell people. I trade your expectation for appreciation. It’s a whole new world instantly. If you can’t appreciate this moment, if you can’t find ecstasy at this moment, in a conversation with a friend or looking in your wife’s eyes, being with your children, going on a run if you can’t find ecstasy, I am going to tell you more money, more people, more love, more business, more anything is not going to give you ecstasy. If you can’t do it here now, you’re not gonna do it when you’ve got more. Then why don’t do it now and have a rich life right now? I tell people: money is one thing, like having financial abundance. There are skills. It’s a science. But wealth is a decision. It’s like you can be wealthy right now. I live in Fuji for a good portion of the time. There are these villagers there. There are the richest people in the world. They are happy. They laugh. They love. They don’t give a damn about economics. Other people say they are poor. When I first went there, I was trying to do things for them. They were like. What were you talking about? I am happy. Wealthy people come over from the United States. They go around and try to figure out what to do. They are gonna spend 9 years doing this and this so that you can finally sit down and be happy. And the Fuji guy goes:” Why don’t you sit down on the beach right now? I am experiencing it. Why spend the 9 years? Why not have it now? That’s my invitation.”
