    Morning Belongs to the Ocean

Ocean wakes up from a tumbling dream,

seashores zigzagging, tides high and low,

    playing an oceanic symphony,  transforming

the sphere between the sky and the beach

    sandpipers continue to make footprints

    walking persistently, overwhelming the onlooker,

ocean pushes in gently, erasing all lines

as if nothing has ever happened on the beach

riding the salty wind, gulls cry aloud, piercing and

screaming,a harsh pitch in the morning symphony,

some birds bravely dive into the tidal waves,

    sharp-beaked,fail to disturb ocean’s melody

I walk into the ocean, paddling slowly,

to float atop the warm waves, relaxing,

only to be lifted up into a total wetness

fora good taste of the bitter, salty ocean

    A Pebble on the Beach

Picking up a pebble on the beach

    smooth,stony, and a good grip

I see a shell, glittering in the sand

    half-buried,and half revealing

    dropping the pebble, almost instantly

I seem to favour the shell from the sea

    without giving a second thought,

when I step on the pebble, accidentally

tides rush in like galloping horses

I leave the shell face up, like a tiny boat

mooring on the beach.  Waving my hands

in the air, I wade into the depths of the sea

jumping, splashing, when I rise up with the waves,

surprised I see, gulls are hovering over my head, ready

to plunge.  Suddenly, I hit an Aristotelian inspiration—

“Scatter!”I scream with an avian hysteria, “I am not a fish!”
