Actually, I am not that good at English, and recently, English is not my advantage, I don't have that much experience in English Learning. But I have a good friend, we encountered in Toastmaster which is the best organization for us practicing leadership and communication skills. She is Weihan. Depons on she is going to make an article about how a self-learner learns English well. So I got a chance to write down my English Learning Experience. Only for support my friend Weihan, and recording details for myself, can not be considered as a lesson.

First, why do we learn English? Different people have their different reasons. For me, when I was a student in primary school, I wanted to learn English, I wanted to speak English, but I hated to recite vocabularies. So in that period of time, my scores in English are alway bad, after that, I was losing my passion and my patience in English-Learning. Then I hated English, because I had bad scores all the time, and because of that, I could not go to my dream school. But did I really hate English, might not true, maybe only because I too wanted to learn English, but I had no idea how to learn it well.
Then, I graduated from Secondary Techenical School, and got my first job in State Own Company. I lost myself, I didn't know what can I do? I was a teenager, but I didn't have my advantage for living in this word, even I got a job in State Own Enterprise, but I can't live well if I leave SOE. So I tried to think, was ther anything I really want to learn? Then I got the answer was English.
Then I went ot Wall Street English for learning English which is the most expensive and best English learning Agency. I used the best learning agency, so not only for getting hight scores in examinations like IELS or TOEFL. After I learning in WSE, I find my own way for learning English, and I want to say that it may not the bset learning method, but that is the method that helps me growing faster, in the futer I may find better methods, but today, let me share my methods.
If you read till now, you might have some ideas about me. I have my real reason, I wanted to learn it well, but I could not, might not because I really hated it, maybe the learning-method proble. And if everyone wants to learn a language, we must need a self reason, very supporting ourselves all the time.
If we want to learn English, we need continue learning four parts, including listening, speaking, reading, writing. For every part, if we can use more way to learn, we could get more experience. For example, if we want to focus on reading. We can think about how can we read? How can we improve reading skill? We can read articles from internet, read news from many applications, read stories from books, after we read, we may have many problems, such as vocabulary problems, grammar problems, background problems, knowledge problems. Especially even we use dictionary to check the meaning in Chinese, but we still confuse about the storyline. So I used THE ENGLISH DICTIONARY, check the meaning in Simple English sentence, then I recorded those vocabularies in the note-book with their simple meaning. Now, I can recommend you to use Longman Dictionary. We can find it in any searching-website like Baidu or Being.

After we recorded the vocabularies, we must review them as much as possible, because if we want to learn vocabuary, the only easy way we can do is to repeat it again and again. Then, even we know the meaning of this vocabuary, we may not understand the meaning of sentences, so that is the grammar problem, currently, I am not that good at grammar, so I can not give you much useful advice, I am sorry about that. But I can tell you a truth, the more quantity of books you finish, the faster you can read, and the more knowledge you got, the more self-confidence you will gain. For reading, we can not only read article, but without thinking, so now I am going to recommend you the second one, “金山词霸”.

After you got your own ID, you can buy a VIP service, then you can read all kinds of English books including Novels, Examination, Knowledge and so on for free. Expecially after you finish the story, you will got some tests for helping you check your comprehension.
Now, l am going to talk about listening. I am using many way to get listening chances. Join the Public English Corner in Renmin University at every Friday afternoon. Join the Toastmasters' meeting around the worlds, We can check the meeting recoursed in the TI Website.

And we also can listen to the redio, such as BBC learning english, VOA news, TED talks and so on. When we are listening to them, we can try to repeat the voice from the redio, and do you remember, when we were an infant baby, how did we control native language, we repeated the voice from our parents, right? So we can copy that method, and follow that method to learn a second language, that is quite useful! Do not worry about the mistakes, enjoy that~ the more mistakes we made, the more chances we got to improve ourselves.
Especially, when we watch a movie, do you always look at the subtitle, no worries, so do I, eveybody love watching things they familiar with. So I made a long piece of paper to block that subtitle, when I watch a movie in my laptop, I stick that paper in bottom of screen, and block the subtitle, then I could focus on the movie itself very well, and no any subtitle distrub me. We also can download a movie without subtitle from the internet, even we must very confussed about the movie at the very begining, but I promise, after you watch hundreds of movies in this way, you must get improvement in listening skill and comprehension.
And, how about speaking! We know how to read, how to listen and how to watch. And those are all about INPUT, if we want to control a language, we must OUTPUT something. Speaking is the most convient way. Because we can speak all the time, talk with not only audience or listener, but also ourselves. Yes, If we cannot find a English learning partner to communicate together, we still can talk with ourselves! For example, when we read a book, we read it out! That's quite easy, and we can do it everywhere. I am doing that everyday, I love reading out load.
And if you want to find a partner, my suggestion for you is going to Toastmaster, you will find all kinds of people who are nice, worm, friendly, and love speaking English with their passion. Okay, I am mentioning passion, yes, passion is very important, if we can live with our passion, that is the most luck thing in the world, if we can learn language with passion, we must learn in a very fast speed and control well. In other hand, I want ot say attitude, if we want to learn a second language, we need a good attitude.
When I was speaking with partner in WSE in my very first begining, I was extremely shy and quiet, but I met a good communicator who told me to be an ice breaker, after few times breaking the ice, we can live with fear even the fear always here.
Finally, I want to talk about writing. Yes, that is very diffcult to presist writing. Because we write in second language, and we always transfer it between English and Chinese, I have to say, that very bad way, and that doesn't matter. When I was writing, I only think in English, even I can not write some good sentences down curretly, but I continue doing that. Because I know! One Day I Will Become A Person Who Writes Anything Beautifully! If you look through my main page in JIANSHU. You will find I wrote an aritle every week. And If you read carefully, you must find many mistakes, grammar mistakes, typos and so on. But that doesn't matter, because we learn for ourselves, we fight for our future. We don't need to care too much in how bad we are now, we can true believe how great person we are going to be.
